Tobacco Mosaic
Tobacco Mosaic began years ago in the hills of West Virginia. I, Frankie Price, a research scientist unhappy with my surroundings, packed up my vision, dreams, band name, guitars, and went to Berklee.
I rushed into a new life and band line-up that lasted for several years. Once in Boston I met an amazing drummer from Seattle named Chris Johnson. The two of us endured numerous "musicians" over the next few years and eventually found Brian Allison on bass.
After graduating and moving to NYC, I have had the fortunate luck of finding a rare talent in a vocalist by the name of Josh Gaboian. His understanding of both theory and songwriting has made him a perfect fit in the band.
After the heartbreaking loss of Chris, I had to move on and with the addition of Greg "Danger" Settino on drums (we stole him from another band just because we had to have him) we were ready to get back into the groove of things.
Several songs have already been written for the new album which we plan on recording in the near future and we are looking forward to rocking for you again soon.
Frankie Price
I started in Princeton, West Virginia, at a time that seems like a very long time ago, jamming with just about anybody that wanted to play. I’ve played everything from Sabbath, Pantera, and Skynyrd, as well playing in my church’s praise team for a short term. All that mattered was the fact that I was playing. I honestly believe that there was not a single person in my High School that played an instrument that I didn’t jam with at least once. When it came time for me to go to college there was only one choice, Berklee. However, when you have parents and a girlfriend that doesn’t want you to go, you tend to open yourself up to other options.
I ended up going to West Virginia University and earning a degree in Biology with a specialty in molecular genetics. The only problem with this is that back then I really wanted to stay in West Virginia. To make a long story more boring, I hated my job, I never made enough money, and I grew to really despise where I lived.
Several years later I ended up in Raleigh, NC by way of Ravenna, Ohio (Leatherpig for Life!) going to NC State studying Chemistry in the graduate program and starting to get my life back together. I had a great group of friends, making plenty of money, enjoying the Carolina sun, and liking my job. The only problem was that I had started to drift away from the music scene. I hadn’t recorded any of my music in years and I wasn’t playing in a band. This situation really made me take notice and reevaluate the direction my life was heading.
I started to realize that the only regret I had in my life at the time was not coming to Berklee back when I had the opportunity. So, I started to get the enrollment process started back up again and prepared myself for the move to Boston.
Once I finished up at Berklee I looked back and I have to say, it was one of my greatest accomplishments. The people I had the opportunity to work, meet, hang, befriend, and jam with were truly a blessing beyond expectation. I finally found happiness in both my professional and private life but I will not say that it has been the smoothest road.
In the summer of 2005, I battled the hardest fight of my life against both testicular and lung cancer. I spent many a day in pain and struggling my way through chemotherapy enduring way too many hours on the operating table trying to get a hold of this awful beast.
Now that I have been cancer-free for several years now, I live life with a new outlook on what exactly is important and that is family and music.
I look forward to recording, mixing, editing, etc... all of the amazing unheard music that's out there as well as seeing you live both on stage and in the crowd.
Rock On Mosaic Music Mob!
